The idea was that Casey Feldstein was expecting her weekend yarn retreat to have a few bumps. They all did. But then a ferocious blast of rain hits Vista Del Mar washing out the roads around the hotel and conference center, making it an island in the storm. The streets are full of mud and debris making it impossible for anyone to come in or go out. She along with some of the guests and staff are stuck with a killer on the loose.

Would that be believable? There hadn't been a lot of rain in California and there hadn't been any problems. And then everything changed and the rains came and came, bringing with them all kinds of trouble like houses sliding off cliffs, waves flooding homes and mud slides blocking roadways. Trees fell over and streets were under water. A whole chunk of Highway 1 near Big Sur broke away, leaving barely one lane available and people were stranded.

I thought of my own personal experience that even a small amount of water running down a street could be dangerous. During a long ago storm, I had to hold onto a stranger so we could get through the fast moving water running along the curb and not get carried with it. That was before I knew that even six inches of moving water can knock you over or I really would have been scared.

After that I decided that the plot wasn't too far fetched.
